The Cathedral of the Nativity is the cathedral of the Volgodonsk diocese in the city of Volgodonsk, Rostov Region . The main temple of the Volgodonsk deanery. Together with the chapel of Theodore Ushakov located on the territory of the temple complex, it forms the parish of the Nativity of Christ.

The Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ was founded on March 7, 2001 as the main church of the city and the Volgodonsk deanery in the New part of Volgodonsk on the territory of the projected youth complex PKiO.
In the future, the construction of the temple was suspended for several years. Construction work resumed on October 15, 2008. In the period 2008-2011, a small church of St. Theodore Ushakov was built and consecrated on the territory of the church under construction, a monument was built to the naval commander, 13 bells were purchased for the future belfry of the church. On August 1, 2010, the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the lower aisle of the cathedral - in the church of Seraphim of Sarov, named after the patron saint of nuclear energy. At the end of 2010, 4 side domes were installed on the temple, and at the beginning of January 2011, a central dome. As a result, the total height of the temple building was 56 meters, and taking into account the cross on the central dome - 58 meters. [3]
Together with the temple on an area of 8 hectares it is planned to erect a whole complex of buildings, including a belfry, a Sunday school, a charity refectory, icon painting workshops, a publishing center, playgrounds, a pilgrimage hotel and an Orthodox gymnasium.
In 2011, the church under construction acquired the status of the cathedral of the newly formed Volgodonsk diocese. [four]
