History

Formed as the 704th night bomber aviation regiment from November 1941, was armed with U-2 aircraft.

As part of the army from December 21, 1941 to March 18, 1942, as a night bomber and from November 12, 1942 to September 3, 1943 , as an assault.

In December 1941 he arrived at the disposal of the Volkhov Front , based at an airfield near Malaya Vishera [1] . In the winter and spring of 1942, he participates in the Luban operation , operates in the Novgorod region, Spasskaya Polisti , Myasniy Bor , Kirishi , Shimsk , conducts night bombardments, including incendiary spills, delivers ammunition, food, medicine back to the surrounded 2nd army takes out the wounded. He acted on Volkhov until March 1942, after which he was allotted for re-formation into Izhevsk .

During the summer of 1942 in Izhevsk [2] it was reformed and retrained into Il-2 attack aircraft . August 18, 1942 departed for Balashov , where he received the material part. In November 1942, it was sent to the Kalininsky Front , based 20 kilometers east of the city of Ostashkov [3] , operating from December 4 to 26, 1942 in particular in the area of Rzhev , Bely , Olenino .

On December 28, 1943, the regiment, as part of a division, was deployed near Leningrad , where in January 1943 it took part in Operation Iskra . Acting from the airfield Gremyachevo, just south of the railway station Budogoschi [4] , supported the troops of the 2nd Shock Army . In February 1943, the regiment was recruited to participate in the Krasnoborsk-Smerdyn operation , operating along the front line Smerdynya-Basino - the southern bank of the Tigoda river, leading the attack in the Makaryevskaya Pustyn area.

On February 23, 1943, it was returned to the Kalininsky front, where it remains in the front reserve until June 1943. In early June 1943, the regiment was transferred to the Western Front, where, from August 7, 1943, the regiment was active in the Yelninsky and Spas-Demen areas, supporting the 10th Guards and the 33rd Army .

Order of the NKO USSR No. 265 of September 3, 1943 and Directive of the General Staff No. Org / 10/138919 of September 4, 1943 was transformed into the 131st Guards Ground Attack Aviation Regiment .

The name of the 95th Guards Ground Attack Aviation Regiment received 10.01.1949 year.
