Story
Volume I
After the events described in Dracula , the now disgraced and divorced Mina Harker (née Murray) is hired by Campion Bond on behalf of British intelligence and is tasked with gathering a team of other extraordinary personalities to defend the interests of the British Empire . Together with Captain Nemo Mina, he travels to Cairo to find Allan Quatermain , then to Paris to search for Dr. Jekyll , and finally to London , where she forcibly recruits Hawley Griffin , the invisible man who completes the incarnation of the League. After meeting with Professor Kavor, the League goes to the lair of Fu Manchu , who stole the only known instance of keyorite - a very rare substance with which he planned to create a military airship and threaten them with Britain. Ultimately, upon receiving a keyitory, the League passes it into the hands of its employer, Professor Moriarty , who plans to use it on his aircraft to bomb the enemy’s den at Limehouse , most of London and the League with him. An aerial battle begins over London, and the League ultimately wins. Mycroft Holmes takes Moriarty’s position as the League’s employer, and eminent gentlemen are given the task of remaining in the service of the Crown, awaiting England's challenge.
Volume II
Placed during the events of Herbert Wells ' novel “ War of the Worlds, ” Volume II begins on Mars , where John Carter and Lieutenant Gulliver Jones ( Edward Arnold , “ Gulliver on Mars ”) form an alliance to fight the Martian invaders. When the invaders are forced to leave Mars and land on Earth , they begin to build tripods. Griffin leaves the League under the guise of invisibility to make an alliance with the invaders, but before openly betraying, steals plans for the defense of London, also physically and emotionally attacking Mina.
Mycroft Holmes sends Nemo and Hyde to defend the capital, patrolling the rivers of London with the help of Nautilus . Meanwhile, Mina and Quartermain meet with Dr. Moreau in his forest shelter and tell him that MI5 is interested in what is known as H-142. Hyde returns to the museum and torments Griffin: breaks his leg and rapes before killing. Hyde then dies, struggling with a tripod and letting MI5 launch the H-142. However, before he dies, he asks Mina for two things: kiss her and touch her breast.
MI5 launches H-142, a hybrid bacterium composed of anthrax and streptococcus . From this, as well as from Bond's cool answer that they will claim that the Martians died from a cold, Nemo is furious. Outraged by the British government’s heartless use of biological weapons, Nemo leaves for Nautilus and says that Quatermain and Murray “never looked for [him] again,” mistakenly believing that they knew the details of the British intelligence plan.
