The song was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly , and the latter was already the famous author of many No. 1 hits, such as “ Like a Virgin ” ( Madonna ), “ True Colors ” ( Cindy Loper ), “ Alone ” ( Heart ), and “ Eternal Flame "( The Bangles ). More than Houston had consecutive hits (6 at the time) it was only the groups The Beatles and The Bee Gees (7 in a row the number 1 each). The single was the 6th for the year in the United States [1] .
