Biography
Born on June 14, 1937 in Moscow in an Orthodox family. The first church in which he was baptized and later held altar obedience was the church of Peter and Paul in Lefortovo .
He graduated from three courses of the Electromechanical College in Moscow. In 1956 he entered the second year of the Moscow Theological Seminary . During his studies, he began to serve as subdeacon in the Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhov with Metropolitan Nikolay Krutitsky and Kolomensky (Yarushevich) and Archbishop Leonid (Polyakov) . In 1960, with the blessing of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Alexy I entered the Moscow Theological Academy (MDA). [1] .
On November 18, 1962, he was consecrated deacon , and on December 19, 1963, Patriarch Alexy I became presbyter [1] .
He graduated from the MDA in 1964 with a Ph.D. in theology [1] .
Since April 1964 he served in the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Lefortovo [1] .
In March 1967 he was moved to the church of St. Nicholas in Khamovniki . By his efforts, the site around the temple was returned, and the church fence was transferred to its original place. The facade of the temple was restored, the old frescoes, previously hidden under a later painting, were restored, and new paintings were made. [1] .
December 10, 1979 he served in the Church of St. Pimen the Great in New Collars , where he also engaged in the decoration of the church and the expansion of its land holdings [1] .
October 23, 1987 he was appointed rector of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity at Pyatnitsky Cemetery , where he established the economic life of the parish [1] .
In 1988, he was elected to the Diocesan Council of Moscow, and in 1991 became his secretary.
Since 1990 - Dean of the Northern District of Moscow.
Since 1991 - Dean of the Central District, Head of the Office of the Moscow Patriarchate.
In 1997, the patriarch was awarded the right to serve the Divine Liturgy with openings of the Royal Gates to “ Our Father ”.
In 2006, he won the “Person of the Year” award in the “Religion” nomination for his contribution to the spiritual revival of Russia.
On December 10, 2008, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was included in the commission for the preparation of the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church , which was held January 27 to 28, 2009 [2] , and therefore participated in its work.
On May 27, 2009, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was included in the newly formed award commission under the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia [3] .
Since 2009 - Secretary of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia in the city of Moscow.
On April 15, 2012, Patriarch Kirill was awarded the Patriarchal Pectoral Cross [4] .
On October 22, 2015, Patriarch Kirill was included in the list of members of the organizing committee of the Council of Bishops in 2016 [5] .
May 24, 2017, on the day of commemoration of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Methodius and Cyril, Slovenian teachers, Patriarch Cyril at the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral Cathedral of Christ the Savior behind the small entrance to the hard work for the benefit of the Holy Church and in connection with the 80th anniversary of the birth of elevated to the rank of Protopresbyter [6] .
