About the album
The disc is more melancholy than the previous Night Owls album, romantic and more soulful. In 1991, Dirk Schofs, the main partner of Dani Klein, left the group. On May 24, 1991, at the age of 29, he died of AIDS , although before that he had HIV . Schofs also suffered from addiction to heroin [2] [3] .
The most successful, according to the critic from Allmusic , were the "graceful" compositions "Farewell Song" and "Brave Jane", which resemble the work of the soul singer, Dusty Springfield . According to the reviewer, “Farewell Song” is influenced by country , and “Muddy Waters” is recorded in the blues genre. Time Flies is an interesting example of combining different musical cultures [1] . Dani Klein was very upset by the death of Dirk Hofs, so the songs in the album are sad, but with a positive mood. Three singles were released with Time Flies : in 1992 - “Heading for a Fall” and “Time Flies”, in 1993 - “So Long Ago”.
Time Flies became the third No. 1 album in the Netherlands , also reaching number 1 in Switzerland , where it held this position for five consecutive weeks. The group made a world tour in support of the album in 1993. Time Flies was the first English album by Vaya Con Dios, which did not have a single song in French .
