Franjo Markovic
Born in Krizhevtsy , in a noble family. In 1862 he studied classical philology and Slavic studies in Vienna. In 1870 he studied philosophy in Vienna, Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin and Paris. F. Markovic - the first professor of philosophy at the University of Zagreb . He received the department of philosophy created at this university in 1874. In 1881–1882 he was the rector of this university. He taught until his retirement in 1909. He was influenced by the views of the German philosopher Herbart .
