Biography
Mikhail Baranov was born on November 25, 1904 in the village of Gudki [K 1] in a peasant family. After graduating from elementary school, he worked as chairman of the Velizhansky Selpo of the Tyumen Region . In 1942 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since May 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He was a shooter of the 239th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 76th Guards Rifle Division of the 61st Army of the Central Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [3] .
On June 28, 1943, junior sergeant Mikhail Baranov sailed across the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Mysy, Repkinsky district, Chernihiv region , and among the first in his unit burst into enemy trenches and accepted the battle. In the battle he was seriously wounded. At the end of 1943 was commissioned [3] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 15, 1944, Senior Sergeant Mikhail Baranov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [3] .
After demobilization, he worked as chairman of the Alexander Village Council. Subsequently, he lived in Tyumen , worked as the head of the transport department of the Tyumen brewery. He died on March 16, 1985 [3] .
He was also awarded a number of medals [3] .
Memory
In 2015, his name was immortalized on a separate granite pylon of the Alley of Heroes in Victory Square in Birobidzhan [4] .
