Biography
Alexander Barabanov was born on August 20, 1920 in the village of Shishino (Stationary) of Tomsk district (now the administrative center of the Shishinsky rural settlement of the Topkinsky district of the Kemerovo region ) in a working family.
After graduating from elementary school he worked as a pioneer leader
In 1940 he was called up by the Topkinsky RVK of the Novosibirsk Region to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . From March 6, 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By August 1943, the guard corporal Alexander Barabanov was the gunner of the 1st battery of the 5th airborne guards artillery regiment of the 10th guards airborne division of the 37th Army of the Steppe Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .
On August 18, 1943, Barabanov, despite shelling of his position with artillery of the enemy, continued firing, completing the combat mission. For this fight on August 24, he was awarded the Medal "For Military Merit" [1] .
In early October 1943, Barabanov’s division forced the Dnieper near the village of Perevolochna (now Svetlogorsk ) in the Kobelyaksky district of the Poltava region . Together with his calculations, Drums supported the rifle subunits. In the battles for the seizure, retention and expansion of the bridgehead, Barabanov’s calculation reflected six enemy counterattacks, knocked out six tanks from a cannon and one - with a grenade. During the battle, Barabanov was seriously wounded [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 20, 1943, the corporal Alexander Barabanov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and medal for "successfully forcing the Dnieper River, firmly consolidating the bridgehead "Gold Star" for the number 3475 [1] .
In 1946 he graduated from the Stalingrad Military Tank School , which was located in Kharkov at that time, after which he continued to serve.
Since 1946, a member of the CPSU (b), in 1952 the party was renamed the CPSU .
In 1947, with the rank of senior lieutenant , he was dismissed. In 1948 - 1958 Barabanov worked at the Olshansky furniture factory in the Kharkiv region , later - in the regional consumer union.
Alexander Kuzmich Barabanov died in Kharkov on October 21, 1970 . He was buried at the 2nd city cemetery of Kharkov [1] .
