Content
Story
Gillian Conway, who lives in Portland, is kidnapped in the middle of the night by a serial killer who puts her in a deep hole somewhere in Forest Park. At the bottom of the pit, Jill discovers human bones with horror - she is clearly not the first person to be abducted by a maniac. Armed with the bone of one of the skeletons, Jill waits until the maniac descends into the pit along the rope ladder, hits him with a bone and escapes. The police, however, find neither a maniac, nor a hole. And then it turns out that Jill was in a psychiatric hospital for some time after the death of her parents, from which the police conclude that she had a dream, and Jill is sent back to the psychiatric hospital.
A year later, Jill, who left the hospital, methodically rummages through Forest Park sector by sector, being firmly determined to prove her case, but so far her searches have been unsuccessful. Once, returning home, she discovers the absence of her sister Molly. Knowing her daily routine and hearing from Molly’s friends that she hadn’t appeared anywhere recently, Jill was horrified to realize that Molly had been abducted. And, in her opinion, that same maniac obviously did it. However, the police are skeptical of Jill's statement. In desperation, the girl decides to conduct her own investigation herself, which is not at all simple: the police are on her heels, since Jill’s desire to find a sister is regarded by the authorities as socially dangerous behavior. Meanwhile, the girl has yet to meet with the maniac himself.
