Fog ( Spanish: Niebla ) is a novel by the Spanish writer Miguel de Unamuno , first published in 1914.

Unamuno described the book as nivola (from the Spanish novela ) in order to separate it from the concept of a realistic novel of the 19th century. The prologue of the book also contains the definition of “Ruman”, which the author introduces in order to emphasize the conventions of the novel genre and the author’s desire to create his own rules. [1] The main character of the book is Augusto Perez, whose life is described metaphorically as fog: "... our life is fog"; "... my love gave birth to Eugenia and removed it from the pristine fog"; “Knowledge is a hail of stones. Not. This is fog, fog! ” [2] The main issues raised in the book are the themes of immortality and creativity. [3]
The book has been translated into many languages of the world, the first translation into Russian ( 1973 ) belongs to A. Gribanov.
