Street history

From the middle of the 19th century until 1923, the territory between the present streets of Osipenko (then Novo-Nikolskaya) and Chelyuskintsy (then it was called Orel) belonged to the Nikolsky monastery. [1] In 1923, the monastery was closed by a decree of the Samara provincial executive committee, and two villages, the Monastic and the New Athos, were formed on the former monastic land.

At the end of the 19th century, the steam mill of the merchant Zvarykin was built on the bank of the Volga River. In 1890 it was bought by merchant Shadrin. Nearby was a distillery and yeast factory Afanasyev. In Soviet times, this territory was redeveloped for the Kinap plant - the Kuibyshev Film Equipment Plant, which produced not so much film equipment as gas masks and other chemical protection items for the Soviet defense industry.

The fourth line of the Samara embankment, named “Oktyabrskaya”, was opened in 1986 to the 400th anniversary of Samara. [2] According to the idea of the architects Anatoly Yankin and Igor Galakhov, the “Ladya” stele became the center of the embankment composition, which can be clearly seen from the ships passing along the Volga: the height of the “Ladia” is 20 meters and it stands on the naturally rising shore. This stela has become one of the symbols of the city.

At the beginning of the XXI century, the high-rise residential complex “Ladya”, the tallest residential building in Samara, became the architectural dominant of the street.

Buildings and structures

  • entertaining and sports complex "Kinap". Such an unusual name was inherited from the Kuibyshev Film Equipment Factory, which was located at this place and whose buildings, after the liquidation of the factory in 2000, became the basis for a modern leisure center.
  • administrative building of Samaraneftegaz [3]
  • a multifunctional business center (building No. 23, several buildings) was also created on the basis of the former Kinap plant.
  • Yar restaurant (building No. 23, building 2)
  • marina "Osipenko"
  • Hotel "On Forest" and "Corona"
  • the residential complex “Ladya” [4] was built on the site of the unfinished Soviet hotel “Tourist”
  • the stela "Rook" [5] was established in honor of the 400th anniversary of Samara in 1986.

Samara silicate plant was located between Lesnaya and Sokolov streets [6] . At present, its territory is planned for residential construction. An Orthodox church in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov is being built between the former silicate plant and the “Ladia” residential complex. [7]

Transportation

Buses 11 and 61 (municipal), 61d, 247, 261 (commercial). [eight]

Metro station "Alabinskaya" is located 500 meters above the Forest Street (along the slope of Osipenko). The station was opened in 2015 .

Earlier on Lesnaya Street there was a trolleybus line with a ring at the end of the street. In 1991, the trolleybus route was changed, and later closed due to the construction of the metro . [9]

In 2010, the roadway on Lesnaya Street was thoroughly repaired and a departure was made to the North-Eastern Railway connecting Novo-Sadovaya Street and Samara Embankment. [10] [11]
