Townsendiella (lat.) Is a genus of bees that includes 3 species from the subfamily Nomadinae of the family Apidae . The only genus of the tribe is Townsendiellini . Named after the American naturalist John Townsend . North America : found in arid areas from southern California to New Mexico ( USA ) and from Baja California to Coahuila ( Mexico ). Small bees with a body length of 4-6 mm. Kleptoparasites of bees of the genus Hesperapis ( Dasypodaidae ). [2]
