Biography

Princess Alexandra never married. Instead, she became the abbess of St. Anne's female religious community in Munich and Würzburg . In 1850, the hands of Alexandra were requested by the French prince Louis Lucien Bonaparte , nephew of Emperor Napoleon I. King Ludwig I politely refused the prince, citing Alexandra's poor health.

In 1852, Alexandra began her literary career. Her first book was The Christmas Rose. In 1856, the next book, Wildflowers, was published. The princess donated money from the book to orphanages. In the following years, several more books appeared about the biography of her family. In 1862, Alexandra translated into German some of the novels of Eugenia Foa. In subsequent years, the princess actively published books for children. Despite her literary achievements, the princess suffered from various psychological oddities, for example, she always wore only white clothes. She died on September 21, 1875 . Buried in the crypt of the Wittelsbach in Munich .
