For the first time, twenty-four teams took part in the tournament. The Canadian team qualified in the final part directly as the organizer of the championship, the remaining twenty-three participants were determined by the results of the qualifying tournament. Eight teams for the first time in their history reached the final of the World Cup .

To determine the goal in the tournament, the Hawk-Eye system was used [1] . For the first time in the history of the world championships under the auspices of FIFA, the matches were held on artificial fields.

Organizer Election

In January 2011, it was announced that Canada and Zimbabwe had applied for the right to host the 2015 World Cup. The country chosen by the hostess of the tournament also automatically became the venue for the 2014 World Cup in the age category under 20 [2] . On March 1, 2011, Zimbabwean representatives announced the withdrawal of their application due to poorly developed infrastructure [3] . Two days later, FIFA confirmed the holding of the final part of the World Cup in Canada [4] .

Cities and Stadiums

In May 2012, six cities were named that became the venue for the games. These included Vancouver , Edmonton , Winnipeg , Ottawa , Montreal and Moncton . The organizers refused to hold matches in Toronto due to the fact that the city became the capital of the Pan American Games of 2015 [5] .

  • Asian Football Confederation : 5 places
  • African Confederation of Football : 3 places
  • UEFA : 8 places
  • Oceania Football Confederation : 1st Place
  • CONCACAF : 3.5 places
  • CONMEBOL : 2.5 places

On August 25, 2011, the DPRK national team was announced to be suspended from participating in the World Cup due to the positive results of the doping tests of five football players of the team [7] .
