Title

Originally called Mikhailovka (Mikhailovsky). The modern name in honor of Khokhol Dzhalykov (1887-1938), who served in 1927-1934 as the first secretary of the regional Central Committee of the CPSU (b ) [5] .

History

It was supposedly founded in the 19th century as a fishing village on the official lands of the Mizhazhstvo department (a coastal strip one verst wide), adjacent to the Yandykovsky ulus of the Kalmyk steppe . These lands were originally allotted for temporary shelters for fishermen, however, stationary settlements gradually appear here [6] .

On December 28, 1943, Kalmyks who lived in the village were deported . By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated December 27, 1943, “On the Elimination of the Kalmyk ASSR and the Formation of the Astrakhan Region within the RSFSR,” like other settlements in the Lagansky ulus of Kalmykia, the village was included in the Astrakhan Region .

In 1956, Kalmyks began to return to the village. In 1957, on the basis of the Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces dated 01.01.1957 “On the Formation of the Kalmyk Autonomous Region within the RSFSR,” Mikhailovsky was returned to Kalmykia. The name Dzhalykovo was assigned no later than 1964 [7] .

In 1967, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, the village of Mikhailovskoye was renamed Dzhalykovo [8] .
