The Russian Institute of Radio Navigation and Time (RIRV) is a research institute in St. Petersburg engaged in the development of radio navigation and synchronization systems. It was founded in 1956 as the Leningrad Scientific Research Radio Engineering Institute (LNIRTI) . Since 1991 it has a modern name. Among the developments of the institute are the LORAN - Chaika , GPS - GLONASS and other systems . The pilot production of equipment developed at the institute has been established since 1959 at the LNIRTI factory (now the Navigator factory).
