At the top of the mountain there are remains of fortifications of the XVII-XVIII centuries, as well as a war memorial dedicated to the invasion of anti-Hitler coalition troops in southern France on August 15, 1944 (Operation Dragoon ). On the mountain Faron there is also a national park specializing in the breeding of feline animals: tigers, panthers, lynxes, leopards, jaguars, pumas, etc.
One of the stages of the cycling Tour of the Mediterranean traditionally includes climbing Mount Pharaun. You can climb the mountain by pedestrian or motorway, as well as by the “Téléphérique du mont Faron” cable car starting in the city (it takes about six minutes to climb). [one]
