Natalia Sergeevna Belova ( November 8, 1917 , Vyatka - July 15, 1983 , Leningrad ) - classical philologist , epigraphist, archaeologist , candidate of historical sciences. She explored the Bosporus kingdom , led field archaeological expeditions to the sites of the Kerch and Taman Peninsulas, and unearthed the site of Porfmiy .

Biography
Born in the city of Vyatka ( Kirov ). She began her career as a student-grinder at the plant named after Comintern. Before the war in 1934, one course was taught at the Leningrad Conservatory .
World War II
She was educated at the philological faculty of Leningrad University , having not received a diploma, in June 1941 she left for her husband, who was stationed in where she joined the Red Army. She served as a military translator. During the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1942, participated in the battles for Kerch as part of the troops of the Crimean Front . After graduating from the Tbilisi Artillery School , she was the head of intelligence for the artillery division on the 1st Ukrainian Front . She was awarded government awards, in 1946 she was demobilized [1] .
Scientific and teaching career
Since 1946, she was an employee of the department of the history of the primitive culture of the State Hermitage . In 1950 she graduated from the History Department of the A. I. Herzen Leningrad Pedagogical Institute . Candidate dissertation is devoted to the political situation of Bosporan cities in the IV century BC. e. She worked in the sector of the ancient world of the Leningrad branch of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (then LOII) since 1954 [2] .
In June 1955, N. S. Belova was accepted as a junior researcher in the group of the history of the Ancient World in LOII and was immediately included in a large collective work on the publication of the “Corps of Bosporus Inscriptions” [1] .
Belova took part in the works of the Bosporus, Lower Don and Olbia archaeological expeditions . For some time, she led a detachment of the Bosporus expedition in the excavations of an antique country estate near Kerch. In 1957, she carried out exploration work at the Kitay settlement [3] . Then for the first time the stratigraphy of the settlement was traced to the mainland and their general dating was given. For many years she participated in the excavations of the ancient settlement of Porfmy .
Worked in the LIIII until October 1960, quit due to transfer to teaching work at the 1st Leningrad Medical Institute named after Acad. I. P. Pavlova [1] .
In 1962, she was appointed head of the Latin Language Department of the 1st Leningrad Medical Institute named after Academician I.P. Pavlov instead of M.E. Sergeenko . She was a member of the Central Methodological Commission, one of the initiators of terminological training.
When creating the Bosporus Inscription Corps (1965), she inspected and identified the ancient Greek epigraphic monuments stored in Kerch, some of which she prepared for publication [4] . Later published a number of new inscriptions. Her epigraphic works are distinguished by thoroughness, an elegant analysis of inscriptions, and the ability to identify certain historical phenomena in lapidary texts; contain subtle observations and important findings.
Rewards
She was awarded the medals "For Military Merit" and "For Victory Over Germany" [1] .
