Konar [1] , or Kenar [2] [3] , or Kinar [2] [3] ( Pers. كناره ) is a small town in the south of Iran , in the province of Fars . It is part of the shahrestan Marvdesht . According to the census, in 2006 the population was 6 853 people [1] .

Geography
The city is located in the central part of Fars, in the highlands of southeastern Zagros , at an altitude of 1,595 meters above sea level [2] . Konare is located approximately 45 kilometers northeast of Shiraz , the provincial capital, and 650 kilometers southeast (SSE) from Tehran , the country's capital.
