Geography
The distance to the regional center, the village of Novopokrovka , is 123 km in a straight line and 180 km along the road (through Glubinnoye and Roshchino ).
The distance to the nearest railway station in the city of Dalnerechensk is 220 km [3] .
It stands in the upper reaches of the Dalnaya River ( until the renaming in 1972, the river was called Tatibe ).
History
The status of an urban-type settlement has been since 1980 [3] .
The whole history of the village is connected with the town-forming enterprises of Primorsky GOK and AIR Group of Companies, which are jointly developing the Vostok-2 field, discovered in the upper reaches of the Dalnaya River in 1961 on the Vostok-2 key, named after the spaceship " Vostok-2 ."
In 1968, the construction of a workers' settlement began, and in 1977 the Primorsky Concentrator was commissioned. The deposit produces valuable tungsten metal, which is a symbol of the village.
City-forming enterprises support sports facilities, a cultural center, a school, and a kindergarten. One of the best ski complex “Vostok” was built in the village. There is also a year-round sanatorium.
In 2008, the village of Vostok turned 40 years old. By this date, the film “Happy Birthday, East!” Was released.
Due to the end of ore reserves and the impossibility of replenishing the raw material base within the exploited field in 2007, the Primorsky GOK acquired a license for exploration and production of ore from the Hidden deposit. In the period from 2007 to 2014, additional exploration work was carried out, reserves were confirmed at the State Reserves Committee, a state expert review was developed and received on the project for the development of the field. But since the enterprise does not have funds for development and there are no investors, the construction of the mine has not begun. According to preliminary estimates, the construction of the mine will take from 3-7 years, despite the fact that the profitable reserves of the deposit will run out by 2020 .
