Affliction is an American feature film directed by Paul Schroeder in 1998. Screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by the writer Russell Banks . Starring Nick Nolty and Sissy Spacek , in the secondary role of alcoholic father Glen Whitehouse - James Coburn , who won the Academy Award for it [1] .

Story

45-year-old policeman Wade Whitehouse ( Nick Nolte ) works in the small town of Lawford, New Hampshire . The sudden death of his mother depresses him, his alcoholic father Glen ( James Coburn ) begins to drink even more when this news arrives. Wade Margie's lover ( Sissy Spacek ) supports him, but the strange accident that Wade was embroiled in completely destroys the fresh life of a small town ...
