Republic of Macedonia at Eurovision 2012

Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku , Azerbaijan . She chose her representative by internal selection, organized by the Macedonian national TV channel MKRTV.

National Selection

On November 19, 2011, MKRTV confirmed its participation in the international Eurovision Song Contest 2012 , selecting the singer Kaliopi , well-known in the Balkans, as her representative in Baku . [1] The singer had once tried to present Macedonia in 1996 in Oslo with the song “Itself”, but did not pass pre-qualification, taking 26th place.

On January 16, 2012, the name of Kaliopi's competitive song, “Black and White” (Crno i Belo) , was announced. [2] The song premiered at a special show scheduled to be held on February 29, 2012. [3]

Macedonia to Eurovision

Macedonia performed in the second semi-final on May 24, 2012 and received 53 points, thus taking the 9th place. Thus, Macedonia entered the top ten finalists from the second semi-final.

In the final, on May 26, 2012, Macedonia took the 13th place, receiving 71 points in total from 12 countries (Romania also received 71 points, but from 13 countries, which allowed Romania to take 12th place according to the rules of the competition).
