Description- Stroma do not form. Fruit bodies are usually small apothecia of a flat or cup-shaped shape, sometimes ingrown into a substrate, sometimes with hairy pubescence. Most of the representatives are painted in gray and black tones.
- Asukas are club-shaped or cylindrical, small, with thin walls. Disputes are small, usually oblong, in some representatives septic.
- Representatives of the family are saprotrophs growing on dead wood, occasionally on rotting herbaceous plants or parasites of trees and grasses.
A variety of anamorphs are known in many species.
TaxonomyCurrently, the family includes several groups unrelated to each other. According to phylogenetic studies, Mollisia and related genera should belong to the Vibrisseaceae family.
