Tiberius (son of Mauritius)

Tiberius ( Greek Τιβέριος ) - co-ruler of Mauritius.

Tiberius was the son of the Byzantine emperor Mauritius and Constantine. Theophylact Simocatta reports that Tiberius played a significant role with his father and was his potential heir. In the will of Mauritius, Tiberius became the ruler of the following areas: "old Rome and gave him Italy and the islands of the Tyrrhenian Sea" [1] . Theodosius was assigned the East, and the rest of the sons Illyric and Africa. John Bagnell Buri reports that the will was written in the fifteenth year of the reign of Mauritius during his grave illness.

In 590, Tiberius was declared co-ruler, but it is not known with which title Caesar or Augustus. However, Mauritius plans to divide the empire were not destined to come true due to the uprising of Foki in 602. Tiberius was killed that same year.
