The World Championship in individual speed skating [1] was held from 21 to 24 March 2013 in Sochi [2] . For the first time since the establishment of the individual distance championships in 1996, it took place in Russia.
The championship became a test competition before the 2014 Olympic Games at the Sochi indoor skating rink " Adler Arena ". [3]
Competitions were held at distances of 500, 1000, 1500, 5000 meters for men and women, 3000 meters for women and 10000 for men, as well as team races for 6 laps for women and 8 laps for men.
