Lotus E20

Lotus E20 is a Lotus F1 Team racing car designed and built to participate in the 2012 Formula 1 World Car Racing Championship. The letter E in the model name is short for Enstone, the settlement in which the base of the Lotus team is located; the figure of twenty means the twentieth anniversary of the base in Enstone (where Benetton cars were created since 1992, and then Renault ). Presentation

The presentation of the chassis took place on the team's website on the Internet on February 5, 2012 [3] .

Pre-season and in-season tests

According to the results of the first pre-season tests, the E20 showed good speed and stability, over four days more than 400 laps were completed on the track, the team did not have any technical problems with the car. Romain Grosjean on the third day of testing showed the fastest time for the 2012 machines. Among the test participants in Jerez, the Lotus E20 received the most positive reviews [4] .

However, at the beginning of the next test session in Barcelona, the team had technical problems. On the first day of testing for Catalunya, Romain Grosjean drove only 7 laps and the team found a problem with chassis number 2 (the first chassis was used in Jerez). Initially, it was planned that Lotus would continue tests with chassis No. 1, but then the team decided to skip three days of tests, since it was necessary to make changes to both chassis [5] .
