Description

75 mm mountain cannon Geb.G.36

The appearance of the gun was relatively standard for it: a horizontal sliding gate, typical of German guns, and a muzzle brake . In order for the gun to shoot at the maximum angle, it was installed on special rims in order to raise it higher above the carriage and minimize recoil.

Reloading guns accelerated with an increasing vertical shooting angle. The carriage was heavy, and it was quite difficult to separate it from the trunk. [3] The gun was transported on steel wheels, although the first samples were transported on wooden wheels. The guards for the gun were not added, in order not to make it heavier. It could be divided into 8 parts to carry on a mule or a horse. Its weight was 850 kg [3] . The gun was light and jumped when firing at a slight angle. With a higher firing angle, the recoil was minimized, and the gun did not jump, as a result of which it was not necessary to put any brakes or obstacles to the wheels [3] .

Shells

For the shooting often used anti-tank shells. Each of them weighed at least 5 kg and could hit targets at a distance of 9250 m. [4] The mass of a special projectile warhead was 5.83 kg, and the warhead was stuffed with explosives. Also, the gun used for firing and armor-piercing anti-aircraft shells guns 7.5 cm FK 18 and could even release a smoke screen. In some cases, even missiles were used, which had a maximum range.

Organization

Every four mountain implements organized a battery, and from two to three such batteries were issued to the battalion. From one to three battalions was enough to form the so-called "Mountain Artillery Regiment" ( German Gebirgs-Artillerie Regiment ). [five]
