Andrei Efimovich Bochkin (October 30, 1906, the village of Ievlevo , Tver province [1] - October 16, 1979, Moscow) is a hydraulic builder. Hero of Socialist Labor (1960), Lenin Prize Laureate (1973), Honored Builder of the RSFSR (1966), Honorary Power Engineer of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU (b) since 1925.

Biography
Born into a peasant family, he was the eleventh, last child.
Education
1917 - graduated from a four-year parish school in the village. Ilgoshchi I supeni.
1923 - studying at the second-level school with. Ilgoshchi, further - in Kiverichi , Mikhailovo-Prudovoy.
Since 1929, he studied at the Moscow Institute of Water Management and Land Reclamation at the Hydrotechnical Department. In 1933, he completed practical training at the DneproGES .
1941-1942 - Student of the Military Engineering Academy named after V.V. Kuybyshev .
Labor activity (pre-war)
Andrei Bochkin has been actively propaganda in the countryside since the age of 17. He works in the Komsomol committee in Tver , in the editorial office of the newspapers Tverskaya Pravda and Tverskaya Derevnya , in the agro-industrial department of the Tver City Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, and travels around the whole Tver province with campaign vehicles. Then, in 1927-1928, he worked as secretary of the party committee of the textile factory in V. Volochka. With the beginning of collectivization in the village, A. E. Bochkin, through party appeal, took part in the creation of the first collective farms in Western Siberia (1928–1929, 1934–1935). Since 1936, at his personal request, he was transferred to the construction of a nickel plant in the city of Orsk, Orenburg Region, where he was the secretary of the party committee of Nickelstroy, and then the senior construction supervisor of the construction of the Nickel-Akkermanovka railway.
1937-1940 - Head and chief engineer of the construction of the Buzuluk irrigation system (Domashkinsky and Labazinsky dams) and Kutuluk dam in the Orenburg region.
1940-1941 - Head of the Glavvodkhoz People’s Commissariat of Agriculture of the USSR (oversaw the construction of the Ferghana and Nevinnomyssky canals, Uch-Kurgan reservoir).
World War II
March 1942-1945 - Major of Engineering Troops , Karelian and 2nd Belorussian Fronts : brigade engineer of the 85th Marine Brigade of the 215th Rifle Division; corps engineer 312 rifle corps. He was wounded, shell-shocked. In 1942, for 8 km from the front line for the needs of the army, he built his 1st mini hydroelectric station. He participated in the battles for the liberation of Poland, Denmark, Germany. He finished the war as a lieutenant colonel.
Labor (post-war)
1945-1949 - Construction Manager of the Nevinnomyssky Canal and the Svistukhinskaya Hydroelectric Power Station in the Stavropol Territory.
1950-1953 - Head of the General Directorate for Construction of the South Ukrainian and North Crimean Canals .
1953-1959 - Head of AngaraGESstroy for the construction of the Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station .
1959, December 10 - Head of the Construction Department of KrasnoyarskGESstroy.
With the start of construction management, Andrei Efimovich adopted a number of cardinal decisions for Krasnoyarsk HPP:
- rejection of a lightweight, arched type of dam construction and adoption of a heavy, gravitationally-monolithic type;
- abandonment of the “continuous” method of laying concrete in the dam body and erection by the classical non-casing method, which ensured the reliability of structures;
- amendment of the master plan for the construction of Divnogorsk ;
- Yenisei overlap in winter conditions, during a minimum water flow:
1963, March 25 - for the first time in winter conditions, in 6.5 hours the most full-flowing river of Russia, the Yenisei, was closed.
During the period of maximum work, the number of people at the construction of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric station together with subcontracting organizations amounted to more than 21,000 people.
1971 - relieved of the duties of the head of the KrasnoyarskGESstroy.
1979, October 16, Andrei Efimovich Bochkin died in Moscow. He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery .
During his life, Andrei Efimovich Bochkin built 10 hydraulic structures: the Dnieper Hydroelectric Power Station, the Domashkinsky Dam, the Labazinsky Dam, the Kutuluksky Dam, the Nevinnomyssky Canal and the Svistukhinsky Hydroelectric Power Station, the South Ukrainian Canal, the North Crimean Canal, the Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station, the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station, and the Sayano-Shanskoye Hydroelectric Power Station .
Family
Andrei Efimovich was married to Bochkina Varvara Fedorovna (1902-1975). Two daughters (Valentina, Nadezhda (1948)).

Popular Recognition
1971, July 13 - awarded the title "Honorary Citizen of Divnogorsk."
1975, May 26 - by order of the Office of the Main Structures of the Construction of the Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Power Station, A. Bochkin was enlisted as an honorary carpenter-concrete worker in the Komsomol-youth brigade of S. Kolenkov (in 1986). The salary of the honorary brigade member was transferred to the account of the Tabatsky orphanage in the Bay region, Khakassia.
1980 - in the city of Divnogorsk, Tsentralnaya Street was renamed A.E. Bochkin Street.
1996 - in the city of Irkutsk, the Fires of Communism street was renamed to Bochkina street.
2006 - in the city of Divnogorsk, vocational school No. 42, on the initiative of the collective, was named after the hydro builder A. E. Bochkin, in honor of his 100th birthday.
2008, February 2 - a bronze monument to A.E. Bochkin, sculptor Yu. Ishkhanov was opened in Divnogorsk.
