Biography

Apollinaris Voskresensky was born in 1865 in Warsaw , the son of an auditor of the Cossack regiment. Artist of the St. Petersburg Ballet since June 10, 1881 [1] . He was one of the state-owned inmates of the Performing School of the St. Petersburg Theater School (now the A. Ya. Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet), which he graduated in 1884 [2] with the rank of ballet dancer as a ballet dancer for a salary of 600 rubles, having received severance pay of 100 p. He was involved in ballets, opera and drama.

In 1886 he became ill with asthma , from which he was treated for several years. In 1894 he asked for permission and a cash allowance for the publication of his compilation of “a guide to stage makeup,” but the directorate refused. He published a book in the journal "Theater" (Moscow: 1895). In 1899, the book came out as a separate edition, and in 1910 - a second edition.

At the end of the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1895, where he studied without stopping his service in the theater, he entered as an assistant artist at the theater, working on drawings of the mounting part. He systematically shied away from dancing, stating that he could not shave his mustache or beard (he suffered from eczema). By the position of the artist he was appointed a salary of 300 p. in addition to the salary received as an artist. Dismissed in 1901 with a pension of 300 p. [3] He also worked as a drawing teacher in various educational institutions of St. Petersburg [4] .

At the same time, Voskresensky actively manifests himself in public life, is an active member of various societies and circles - the Society of Painting Teachers (1901-1917), in which he was chairman in 1907-1908 and 1909-1915. and the Art and Pedagogical Circle (1909-1913), where he is the treasurer [5] .

In 1911, he was the Comrade of the Chairman at the All-Russian Congress of Artists in Petrograd, where he delivered two reports.

In 1912 he published a monograph about the artist Andrei Petrovich Ryabushkin (1861-1904) [6] . Also printed in various periodicals.

He died on December 15, 1915 in Petrograd from pneumonia.
