Biography
In the 1980s, John raced for some time in the junior British Formal Championships, participated in the national championship in F-Ford class cars. He won several races, but did not achieve any special results.
In 1990, he switched to managerial activity, creating the Manor Motorsport team . The project gradually gained strength and soon became one of the strongest teams in the junior series of formulations, first in the UK and then in Europe. To date, the organization has already accounted for more than a dozen different titles in various competitions. The pilots of the team became champions of the British F3 , won the F3 Masters , the Bahrain Super Prize and the Macau F3 Grand Prix , as well as more than a hundred less prestigious races.
Many pilots who succeeded for Bout's team later reached F1 and other prestigious series: Kimi Raikkonen , Lewis Hamilton , Frank Mayo , Oliver Jarvis , Paul di Resta are on this list.
In 2009, John tried to get into F1 with Manor. With a minimum budget, he passed the FIA tender, but for financial reasons, the team made its debut under the sponsorship name Virgin Racing , which soon changed to another - Marussia F1 .
In the new project, John was determined to be the sports director, but due to disagreements in the management of the project, he soon became the head of the team, replacing Alex Tye who left the company in this post.
