It was founded in the second half of the 19th century . Initially, the village was called the 1st Iki-Tugtun ( Kalm. Negdgch Ik Tugtn - lit. the first large standard bearers). The emergence of the 1st Iki-Tugtunov hoton was associated with the division of the Tugtuns of the Bolshederbetovskiy ulus into 3 aimaks (Aymach groups) in 1871: 1st Iki-Tugtun, 2nd Iki-Tugtun (now Akhnud farm) and Baga-Tugtun [2 ] .
According to the List of Populated Places of the Stavropol Province in 1909, in the settlement of the 1st Iki-Tugtunov clan there were 177 households, 256 male and 237 female souls lived. Hotna had a school, a church (a Buddhist temple), 2 trading enterprises, 2 grain stores, a fire convoy [3] .
On December 28, 1943, the Kalmyk village population was deported . In August 1949, the 1st Iki-Tugtun was renamed the village of Pushkinskoye . The Kalmyk population began to return after the lifting of restrictions on movement in 1956 [4] . The village was returned to the newly formed Kalmyk Autonomous Region in 1957 [5] .
Physico-geographical characteristics
The village is located in the western part of the Gorodovikovsky district , within the Stavropol Upland [6] . The average height above sea level is 40 m [7] . The terrain is flat. Bashanta River flows 1.7 km south of the village. To the southeast is a pond [6] .
By road, the distance to the capital of Kalmykia, the city of Elista, is 250 km, to the regional center of Gorodovikovsk - 14 km, to the administrative center of the rural settlement of the village of Chapaevskoye - 15 km. The nearest settlement is the village of Lazarevsky , located 10 km east of Pushkinsky [8] .
According to the Köppen – Geiger classification of climates, the village is located in the continental climate zone with relatively cold winters and hot summers (Dfa) [7] . In the vicinity of the village of chernozems, low-power, low humus and dark chestnut soils of various particle size distribution [9] .
In the village, as in the whole territory of Kalmykia , Moscow time operates.
