Chapaevskoye is a village in the Gorodovikovsky district of Kalmykia , the administrative center of the Pushkin rural municipality . Located on the Bolshoi Yegorlyk River , 29 km west of the city of Gorodovikovsk.

Physico-geographical characteristics

The village is located on the right bank of the Bolshoi Yegorlyk River, within the Stavropol Upland , on the border with the Rostov Region [2] . The average height above sea level is 35 m [3] . The terrain is flat.

By road, the distance to the capital of Kalmykia, the city of Elista, is 270 km, to the regional center of Gorodovikovsk - 29 km [4] . The nearest settlement is the village of Ivanovka, Salsky District, Rostov Region, located on the opposite bank of the Bolshoi Egorlyk River [2]

According to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification, the village is located in the continental climate zone with relatively cold winters and hot summers (Dfa). In the vicinity of the village, chernozems of low-power, low humus and dark chestnut soils of various particle size distribution are common [5] .

History

In 1921, Kalmyks living in the Orenburg region expressed a desire to migrate to the Kalmyk region . Local authorities were forced to turn to the People's Commissariat and People's Commissariat of Railways with a request for assistance and the allocation of 25 freight cars for the settlers. Subsequently, in 1922, about 160 families of Orenburg Kalmyks moved to the Bolshederbetovsky ulus . In total, 456 Orenburg Kalmyks were resettled to the Bolshederbetovsky ulus [6] . They were settled in the western part of the ulus, on the banks of the Yegorlyk River.

On December 28, 1943, the Kalmyk population was deported , the farm, as well as other settlements of the Yashalta region, was transferred to the Rostov region. In August 1949, the Orenburg farm was renamed the village of Chapaevskoye [7] .

The Kalmyk population began to return after the lifting of restrictions on movement in 1956 [8] . The village was returned to the newly formed Kalmyk Autonomous Region in 1957 [7] . In the late Soviet period, the collective farm named after them was located here. Chapaeva.

According to the results of the 2002 census, the majority of the population of the village were Russians (77%) [11]

Social Infrastructure

The village has several shops, a post office, a village club, a library, and a Topolyok kindergarten [12] . Medical services for the villagers are provided by the medical outpatient clinic and the Gorodovikovskaya central district hospital. The nearest emergency department is located in Gorodovikovsk. Villagers receive secondary education at the Chapaev secondary school [12] .
