Biography
Vladimir Yusupov was born in 1925 . In 1943, he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army, according to some sources, the Artyomovsky District Military Commissariat of the Stalin Region of the Ukrainian SSR [1] , and according to others, the Voroshilovgrad City Military Commissariat [2] . By November 1943, Yusupov had the rank of sergeant , and was in the position of assistant platoon commander of the 5th company of the 1008 rifle regiment of the 266th rifle division [2] .
On November 25, 1943, in a battle near the village of Purchak , replacing the wounded platoon commander, Yusupov led his unit against the German troops in the attack. A platoon under his leadership knocked out the enemy from defensive lines and occupied trenches. In the battle, Yusupov personally destroyed 4 enemy soldiers. For this battle he was awarded the medal "For Courage" [1] .
He distinguished himself during the fighting in February 1944 . On the night of February 7-8, 1944, the Yusupov battalion went to the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Kamenka. Without waiting for the orders of the higher commanders, a group of fighters of the battalion under the leadership of Yusupov took the initiative and, having put together a log of the craft, quietly crossed the river unnoticed by the enemy. Gathering all the forces that crossed, Yusupov, taking advantage of the surprise, attacked the German units, creating a bridgehead for transporting the battalion. Having seized several crossing means, he transported them to the left bank of the Dnieper, to force the troops of the battalion. Thanks to the established bridgehead, the battalion was able to quickly cross and knock the enemy troops out of Nikopol [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 19, 1944, Sergeant Vladimir Yusupov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [3] .
In December 1945 he was convicted of premeditated murder (mortally wounded a nurse with a pistol for refusing to marry him).
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 17, 1948, Yusupov was stripped of the title of Hero of the Soviet Union [2] . Information about further fate is missing.
