155th Street is the New York Underground station on Eighth Avenue . The station is located in Manhattan , in the Washington Heights area , at the intersection of 155th Street with St. Nicholas Avenue . The station is served by two subway routes - A and C. Routes work alternately: during daytime C , late at night A. It was opened on September 10, 1932 , along with other stations of the Eighth Avenue line (with the exception of the three southernmost ones, opened a little later).

Under the station are the express lines of the line used by A in the daytime when C is running. The station consists of two side platforms located on opposite sides of local tracks. There are mosaics with the name of the station; in addition, standard black plates with a white name hang on the columns. There is a mezzanine where the turnstile room is located. Once the mezzanine was the full length of the platform, but later it was significantly trimmed. A similar arrangement of paths and platforms is available at the next station, 163rd Street - Amsterdam Avenue .
