Jórma Cortelainen ( Fin. Jorma Kortelainen ; December 17, 1932 , Pyhäselkä - December 27, 2012 , Jyväskylä ) - Finnish skier and rower , Olympic medalist in cross-country skiing. Participant in both the summer and winter Olympic Games.

Skier career

At the 1956 Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo , he won silver in the relay race in which he ran the second stage, and having gone to his stage in second position, he retained second place in the fight against the Swedish national team. In the individual races of the Olympic tournament did not participate, participation in the relay race was the only start in Cortelainen’s career at the international tournament in his ski career.

At the Finnish Championships, he won 5 times, once in a 15 km race and 4 times in a relay.

Career rower

In addition to ski racing, Kortelainen successfully engaged in rowing.

At the 1960 Olympics in Rome , he participated in the singles tournament, but did not make it to the final by eliminating the semi-finals.

He was a participant in the 1962 World Cup and the 1963 European Championship , in the single class, but did not achieve much success by becoming the 8th and the 10th, respectively.

At the Finnish Championships, he won 12 times, 7 times in the single class and 5 times in the doubles class.

After completing his sports career he worked as a rowing coach.
