History
Macklin, Neff, and Grace studied together at Edinburgh College of Art , and met Dixon through friends from the Glasgow School of Art . Around 2006, for various reasons, they moved to London. Macklin and Neff recorded several tracks in the apartment of the first, and by the end of 2008 they were joined by Grace and Dixon [3] . Their debut single , Storm, was released in July 2009 via Shadazz Records. The following spring, “Wor” followed, described on Allmusic as “if The Ventures were improvised with Hot Chip ” [1] .
January 30, 2012 Django Django released the eponymous studio album [2] . It contained previously released singles "Waveforms" and "Default". The record received positive reviews from critics [4] and debuted at 33rd place on the British chart [5] . In September of that year, she was nominated for a Mercury Prize [6] . The song "Hail Bop" was used in FIFA 13 , and "Waveforms" in Grand Theft Auto V. The album received significant acclaim from critics and was featured at the end of the year on the Rolling Stone and NME lists. Django Django did not expect such success, the band's lead singer Dave Macklin commented on this: “I thought it would be an underground album, which will be sold in the amount of several hundred copies.”
