Transfiguration Street - a street in Vologda, located in the southern residential area [1] . It starts from the currently inactive railway crossing in the area of Tovarnaya Street and ends at the intersection with the Okruzhny Highway. The street is named in honor of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Colonel-General Evgeny Preobrazhensky [2] .

History
The route of the street as a whole repeats the route of the historical road leading from Vologda towards St. Petersburg . After construction In the 1920s, to the south of the Oktyabrsky settlement road, its odd side was built up with private residential buildings, partially preserved to this day. In 1928, together with the October settlement entered the city line called the Leningrad highway. After the commissioning of the Leningradsky Bridge and the closure of through traffic through railway crossings to the districts of Kirov and Tovarnaya streets, it lost its importance as a transport artery.
Street development perspectives
In 2012, it is planned to repair the road surface on Preobrazhensky Street [3] . In 2009, it was reported that the plans of the city administration include laying asphalt on a plot of 600 meters between Shchetinin and Okruzhnoye Shosse streets (to the point where the road to Cherepovets and St. Petersburg began ) [4] . Subsequently, in this place a roundabout should appear [5] . Its construction is also planned for 2012 [6] .
The development plan of the Southern residential district of Vologda envisages the inclusion of Preobrazhenskogo Street into a new latitudinal city highway [1] . Then the highway will go along the railway, cross the Leningradskaya street and connect Preobrazhensky street through Govorovsky passage with Mozhaisky street [7] .
Development
The street is built up along its entire length. The odd (south) side of the street is occupied mainly by residential buildings, including private low-rise wooden buildings and residential high-rise buildings of typical series.
Even (north) side of the street is occupied by office buildings and industrial buildings.
