Biography
Paul Hennings was born on November 27, 1841 in the city of Heide in the area of Ditmarschen . He studied at the Gymnasium in Mildorf, then entered the University of Kiel . Then Hennings became an assistant director of Ernst Ferdinand Nolte at the Kiel Botanical Garden at the university. In 1864, because of the Danish War, Paul was forced to leave the University and work at the post office in Augustinburg . Then Hennings several times changed his place of residence and stayed in Hohenvestedt , where he taught at an agricultural school. In 1874, August Wilhelm Eichler , director of the Kiel Botanical Garden, invited Hennings to an assistant. In 1876, Paul Hennings married Matilda, they had two children. In 1879, Eichler was summoned to the Berlin Botanical Garden , the next year he was joined by Hennings. In 1890, Paul was appointed assistant curator, and in 1891 - keeper of the herbarium of the Berlin Botanical Garden. Since 1894, Paul was one of the editors of the botanical journal Hedwigia , in 1901 he became editor-in-chief. In 1902 he became an honorary professor. In 1907, one of the sons of Hennings died. Paul Hennings died on October 14, 1908 in Berlin .
