Svyatoslav Rostislavich ( presumably in baptism Ivan ; c. 1134/1139 [1] - 1170 ) - Prince of Novgorod ( 1157 - 1160 , 1161 - 1168 ), the second son of Rostislav Mstislavich .
He reigned in Novgorod during the periods of the Kiev reign of his father. The first time he was expelled from Novgorod in 1160–1161 in favor of Mstislav Rostislavich , the nephew of Andrei Bogolyubsky , when the latter gave his daughter in marriage to his nephew Izyaslav Davydovich , who claimed Kiev, and sent troops under Vschizh against his southern rivals.
In 1164, a powerful Swedish fleet reached Ladoga , but was completely defeated by troops coming from Novgorod under the leadership of Svyatoslav and the Zakhary posadnik in the battle on the Voronezh River , while losing 43 ships.
The second time he lost the Novgorod reign after the death of his father in favor of the son of the new Kiev prince, Mstislav Izyaslavich .
Svyatoslav married in 1170 (his wife is unknown), from the offspring Rostislav Svyatoslavovich, mentioned only in genealogical sources, is known (most likely, he died before his father). [2]
