G. N. Gabrichevsky

Gabricevsky’s father, Norbert Iosifovich, a Saxon citizen, was a photographer . In 1860, he opened in the Arbat part of the 5th quarter, in the house of Barykov, at the Tver Gate, against the Holy Monastery , the photographic company "Rome", so named after the maiden name of his wife, Louise Rome. With the assistance of Moscow photographer Mikhail Tulinov , Gabričevsky’s invention was recorded and granted the privilege “for the promising photographic apparatus he invented on November 21, 1863 for 3 years, at the request of April 12, 1863”. The essence of the invention consisted in the fact that due to a special combination of lenses of the photographic apparatus, it became possible to capture people located at different distances from the apparatus [2] .

Georgy Gabrichevsky graduated from the 3rd Moscow gymnasium in 1878, then - the Faculty of Medicine of Moscow University ( 1884 ). Immediately after graduation, he accepted Russian citizenship.

In 1884-1885 he was an external doctor in the neurological department of the Old Catherine Hospital ; in 1885-1886 - assistant to the prosector of the physiology department of Moscow University; was an intern at the propaedeutic therapeutic clinic of Cherinov . In 1888 he became a doctor of medicine for his thesis: “On the question of muscle excitability. Experimental study. "

In 1889-1891 he trained in the laboratories of I.I. Mechnikov , R. Koch , E. Ru , P. Erlich .

Since 1891 - privat-docent of Moscow University ; organized a bacteriological laboratory at the therapeutic clinic of Cherinov, which he headed from 1891 to 1895. From 1895 until the end of his life, he was director of the Bacteriological Institute , created for private donations, for which the premises of the old anatomical theater (“museum”) were provided in the New Catherine Hospital .

Together with N.F. Filatov, he introduced serum treatment of diphtheria . For the specific prevention of scarlet fever, Gabrichevsky proposed the use of the killed streptococcal vaccine that he created - he tested the effect on himself. Together with Leventhal, he proposed a serological test for the diagnosis of typhoid fever . He proposed a method for culturing anaerobes in cups, a new method for determining the active motility of bacteria; received antitoxin dysentery and antidysenteric serum.

He died after contracting an experiment on immunizing animals for the preparation of a vaccine against croupous pneumonia. He was buried at Pyatnitsky cemetery in Moscow.
