Creation History
Thornton Wilder himself about the play "Our Town" said: "This is a simple play in which there are all complex topics; and this is the most difficult play, where I am lovingly talking about the simplest things in the world. "

Story
The action takes place in 1901-1913 in the American provincial town of Grovers-Corners, New Hampshire . The play is conceived as a play in a play; according to the author’s remark, it should be performed without a curtain and almost without decorations. The assistant director announces to the audience that now they will play Thornton Wilder’s play “Our Town”; he talks about the town and introduces the main characters to the audience.
Stage Fate
One of the first productions of the play in the USSR was made by the Polish director Erwin Axer at the Leningrad Bolshoi Drama Theater in 1979.
In 1993, the play was staged at the Academic Youth Theater [1] .
In 2014, Semyon Spivak staged a play at the Youth Theater on the Fontanka [2] .
In 2015, the play was staged at the M. Yu. Lermontov Drama Theater [3]
In 2019, Alexei Serov staged “Our Town” at the Altai Youth Theater .
Filmed in 1940 by director Sam Wood .
