Biography

He came from the nobility of the Kaluga province , was born on September 15, 1812. Received home education.

He began his service as an ordinary in the Gendarme regiment, where he entered on May 28, 1827. He was promoted to officer on February 16, 1831.

During the Polish campaign of 1830-1831, he was part of the army and participated in the battles of Grzhembkov, Pysk, Ostroleka and the capture of the Warsaw fortifications and the city rampart . For the last case he received the Order of St. Anne of the 4th degree.

In 1833 he was promoted to assignment with the appointment of regimental adjutant . Four years later, already in the rank of headquarters captain , he was transferred to the permanent cadre of the Model Cavalry Regiment, which he consisted of until the end of 1855. During this time, enlisted in the Life Guards of the Ulan Regiment from April 14, 1840, he received the following ranks: staff captain (in 1840), captain (February 22, 1843) and colonel (December 6, 1848); commanded the 2nd Ulan squadron , and then successively the 2nd and 3rd divisions, and for the excellent condition of the units entrusted to him he was repeatedly awarded the Highest Grace.

November 29, 1855 he was appointed commander of the 12th Hussars of the Akhtyr Regiment . August 26, 1856 promoted to major general .

In 1861 he surrendered the regiment and after that he successively held the posts of assistant chief of the 3rd, 6th and 1st cavalry divisions.

In 1863, he was sent with a detachment to the Mariampol detachment to pursue the rebels , overtook and dealt with them in the village of Chistaya Buda, and then corrected the post of military commander of the city of Kovno and the Covensky district .

March 27, 1866 promoted to lieutenant general with the appointment of assistant chief of the 1st Guards Cavalry Division; in 1867-1869 he was a member of the committee on the organization and formation of troops; in 1871 - a member of the cavalry commission on personal military service, and in 1873 he was appointed to be under His Imperial Highness the inspector general of the cavalry, with the dismissal of the assistant to the head of the division.

Sukhodolsky was appointed a member of the Military Council on April 16, 1878. The cavalry generals made February 16, 1881. He died on October 30, 1885. On the report of the Minister of War on the death of Sukhodolsky, Emperor Alexander III noted: "Poor old man, very sorry for him."

Wife - Emilia Vasilievna Lukashevich (1822-29.04.1857), died of consumption in Rome [1] .
