Absheron (hotel)

Absheron ( Azerb. Abşeron ) is a hotel in the capital of Azerbaijan , in the city of Baku , described as an "impressive hotel" [1] .

Its twenty-story building has 243 rooms (on the 9th, 11th, 12th and 14th floors of the hotel there are single and double rooms, as well as suites ). It is led by JW Marriott .

The hotel is located on Freedom Square , not far from Primorsky Boulevard .

History

The hotel was built according to the plan of the architect Michael Useinov and put into operation in 1965 . The construction project reflected new trends in the development of Azerbaijani Soviet architecture [2] . It was reconstructed in 1999 [3] . The hotel had 16 floors and 343 rooms. People's artist of the USSR Mikail Abdullaev took part in the design of the hotel.

In 2009, the hotel building was demolished, and a new, 20-story building was built in its place. The opening of the new hotel building took place in 2011 . The new hotel has 243 rooms.
