Oktyabrina Vladimirovna Voronova (nee Matryokhina ; October 5, 1934 , Chalmny-Varre , Murmansk District , Murmansk Region , USSR - June 16, 1990 , Revda , Murmansk Region ) - the first Soviet Sami poetess, wrote in Sami and Russian [1] . The author of the first Russian book of poetry in the Sami language (Life, 1991) [2] . She lived in the village of Revda, Murmansk region [1] .

Biography
Oktyabrina Voronova was born on October 5, 1934 in the village of Chalmny-Varre, Murmansk Region [1] . Her mother belonged to the family of famous Sami hunters Matryokhins, her father was Russian by nationality, came from a family of Orthodox Lovozero priests [2] [3] .
In 1958 she graduated from the Herzen Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute [3] . While still a student at a pedagogical institute, she went on linguistic expeditions to the Kola Peninsula along with G. M. Curt and other students. [four]
For a long time, she worked as a teacher in a school (until 1985), and simultaneously enrolled in extramural postgraduate studies at the Research Institute of National Schools , which she graduated in 1980 . Then she worked as a librarian in the village of Revda, Murmansk Region (1985-1990) [1] . Voronova - one of the authors of the ABC book and textbooks in the Sami language [2] .
Oktyabrina Voronova died on June 16, 1990 at the 55th year of her life [1] . She was buried in the village of Lovozero [3] .
Oktyabrina Voronova - sister of the Sami poetess Iraida Vinogradova and linguist Tamara Matryokhina.
Memory
In 1995, the Museum of Sami Literature and Writing named after Voronova was created [3] . In 2006, the Voronova Prize was established [3] .
