History
In 1923, the Transfiguration of the Savior Volost of Petrozavodsk Uyezd was renamed Petrovsky in honor of the food commissar Ivan Fedorovich Petrov, who died in 1921 on the Don, and two Petrov Myuziev (the Red Army soldier) and Kiryanov (according to other sources Iyakov), members of the Spasogubsky Party Organization, who died in the struggle for the Soviet power of the natives of the volost [11] . The renaming took place at the request of the inhabitants of the volost. The center of the volost was the village of Spasskaya Guba . [12] .
In 1927 , when the Autonomous Karelian SSR was divided into 26 districts instead of volosts and counties, Petrovsky district was also formed. In 1931, the district center from the village of Spasskaya Guba was moved to Girvas . But the construction of a paper mill in Kondopoga made many amendments to the possible history of Spasskaya Guba. Cities with the name Petrovsk never appeared. But for many years the village remained a populous settlement, the center of agricultural production. [13]
In 1957, the Petrovsky district was liquidated. Its territory entered the Suojärvi and Kondopoga regions . On August 17, 1962, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the KASSR, the Munozersky Village Council of the Kondopoga District was renamed the Petrovsky Village Council of the same region.
