The Beatles Version
The members of the group were big fans of the work of Buddy Holly [1] . In addition to this composition, in their living repertoire there were many other songs by this author. Lacking musical material when working on Beatles for Sale , the group decided to record a cover version of this composition.
The composition was recorded on October 18, 1964 at the Abby Road studio (in the same session, the musicians recorded six other songs for the album). In total, two full takes were recorded, and voice parts were additionally recorded. It is noteworthy that Ringo Starr, in addition to playing the drum kit while recording this composition, also beat blows on the suitcase [1] [2] (it was intended to achieve a sound similar to the one that sounded in Holly's “Everyday” composition).
- In the recording participated: [3]
- John Lennon - main vocals, rhythm guitar
- Paul McCartney - vocals, bass
- George Harrison - vocals, solo guitar
- Ringo Starr - drums, suitcase
In addition to the Beatles for Sale album, the song was also released on the Beatles VI American album and on the Beatles for Sale mini-album (No. 2) .
