The station was opened on March 3, 1917 , on the overpass. Both platforms have beige windshields and red with green outlines of the dome, frames and supporting columns in the center, high black waist steel fences at both ends with lampposts. Station designations in a standard black nameplate with white letters. The walls of the platforms depict episodes from the works of Sholem Aleichem , James Baldwin , Nicholas More and Edgar Allan Poe , they all lived and worked in the Bronx.
