Biography
Roberto Zandonella was born on April 14, 1944 in the commune of Comelico Superior , Venice . From an early age he became interested in sports, later became interested in bobsleigh and passed the selection to the national team of Italy, joining it as a dispersal. Immediately he began to show good results, thanks to which he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1968 Olympic Games in Grenoble , where, being in the team of the titled pilot Eugenio Monti , he won the classification of four-seater crews.
In 1969, Zandonella won silver at the World Championships in American Lake Placid, a year later he won a gold medal at the world championship in Swiss St. Moritz. In 1972, he went to compete at the Olympic Games in Sapporo , but could not get there to the prize places, having arrived in the four only eight. Subsequently, Roberto Zandonella continued to perform at a high level, albeit less successfully. In the mid-1970s, before attending the Olympics in Innsbruck , he decided to end his career as a professional athlete, giving way to young Italian bobsledders.
