Maebur ( fr. Mahébourg ) is a small city (population of 15,753 people in 2000), located on the southeast coast of the island of Mauritius. The administrative center of the county is Grand Port. It is located on the shore of a picturesque lagoon, along the shore of which stretches a multi-kilometer beach. Private houses have been built along the entire beach area, blocking free access to the sea.

History
The city was founded in 1808 and named after the French navigator and military commander Bertrand Francois Mahe de Labourdonne . The city was built during French colonization, and beautiful colonial-style houses have been preserved in it.
